In general, cloud computing means, you keep all the data of your computer or laptop on the Internet instead of storing it in the hard Drive of that computer, it is called cloud computing. When you keep your data stored on the hard disk of the computer, then you can access it only from that computer. But if you store that data in the cloud i.e. on the Internet, then you can access it from anywhere and from any computer.

Due to the feature of cloud computing, it is popular nowadays and everyone has started using it too. It is possible that you are also using any cloud application. If seen, the need for cloud computing is increasing nowadays. Not always everyone is taking their system, but they save their important data in the cloud and access it from anywhere.

Nowadays, along with cloud computing, the desire for distributed computing has also changed. So let’s know without delay what is a cloud computing and the types of cloud computing are there.

What is cloud computing?

It is the technology by which a user can store their data on the Internet or access software or services online. In simple language, if you do not keep your data on the hard disk of the computer and store it in the cloud storage of the Internet and access it, then it is called cloud computing.

Cloud Computing

When a user keeps his data or software in the local drive i.e. the hard disk of the computer, then he has to depend on that computer. But if that user keeps his data in the cloud that is in the internet platform, then he can extract that data from any laptop, computer, or mobile too. It is a pleasure that you can access your data anywhere. You won’t need to carry a particular computer everywhere.

Nowadays there are many services available on the internet. Many facilities are available such as cloud storage, online video, website, and software service.

In this, the service that the user needs, he uses it by paying for it. For this, the user does not have to create any platform or infrastructure. Nowadays the user needs service all the time on the internet.

As an example, all the users nowadays using YouTube, Facebook, WhatsApp, Instagram, Twitter, Google Drive, Google Photos, etc. In which you upload photos, upload videos, and also access it. All these cloud software has become a necessity for people. That’s why the importance of cloud computing is very high in today’s time.

Importance of Cloud Computing

It costs a lot of money to establish a small or big IT company. It is necessary to have a server room in a small or big IT company. In which database management, firewall, mail server, and the entire network are operated. Many devices are required to perform this task. Such as router, modem, switch, and hub. Engineers are appointed to operate all these.

What is Cloud Computing
Cloud Computing

To solve this type of problem and reduce the cost of infrastructure, nowadays all the companies have started using cloud computing. In this, the company has to buy storage in the cloud. And uses it according to its use, which costs less than all those components.

In cloud computing, it reduces the demand for hardware and software from the user. In this, the user should be able to operate. It is as easy as operating a web browser. All of you do some popular cloud computing web service every day. For example Gmail, Yahoo, Hotmail, etc.

When you use all these mail cloud services, it does not ask the local drive to keep the data in it. It stores in its cloud storage and you can use it as per your requirement.

What are examples of cloud computing

You must have heard about online software like Dropbox, Google Drive, Gmail, Facebook, etc. All these are called cloud computing platforms. In this, you can keep your data secure and access it from any system by giving your ID and password.

All these cloud storages have some limits, in which you give some space for free. If you need more storage space then you will have to buy more storage space from this service provider.

Medical

There is a huge online market in the medical profession these days. From where the patient can get his medicine sitting at home. The doctor verifies the complete report of the point online and prescribes the best medicine to the patient. so that the patient recovers quickly.

Education

The craze of cloud computing has also increased in the field of education. Ever since the onset of COVID-19, e-learning is being taught in all colleges, schools, tuitions, etc. Students are studying through online classes and clearing their doubts. Nowadays all competitive exams have become online. Some e-learning platforms are BYJU’S and Unacademy.

Government

Cloud computing has also been used later in the work of the government. Nowadays all government schemes are being monitored online. Beneficiaries are being facilitated through all e-governance schemes. Meetings of all departments of the government are being held through video conferencing.

All the social media platforms that have been invented nowadays come under cloud computing. We post our photos, videos, and documents on all social media platforms. It is saved in all online stores. There is a limit on some social media that the user can do it in free space. If he wants more he will have to buy.

Some examples of social media platforms are Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, and WhatsApp.

When you create your website only then you have to buy space in the cloud. Which we call hosting. In hosting, we upload our site and do Google’s show. Nowadays many hosting companies are providing their hosting service. Such as HostGator, Hostinger, Namecheap, Big Rock, etc.

3 Types of Cloud Computing

Services model of cloud computing

Generally, there are 3 types of cloud computing services models.

  • IaaS (Infrastructure as a Service)
  • PaaS (Platform as a Service)
  • SaaS (Software as a Service)

IaaS

The full form of IaaS is infrastructure as a service of a cloud computing model. In this type of service model, cloud computing power, network power, storage, software, and all other controls are operated by users. This type of service model is used mostly for businesses purpose.

Some cloud providers offer this service to businesses as a virtualized infrastructure. In this, businesses outsource storage, server, and cloud networking with the help of the internet.

This service model is very useful for those who are small businesses and do not want to spend money on infrastructure. There are many hardware devices, network devices, external storage devices, and a lot of expenses to maintain in a year. But by using the IaaS service, this cost will stop and money will be saved. An example of this is VPS (Virtual Private Server), in which you also get network, software, and computing power.

PaaS

The full form of PaaS model is Platform as a Service. This service model is for users who work on software design, application development, and service. This service provides the convenience of working in the cloud via the Internet.

You know that there are many software development and design tools on the Internet, with the help of which developer applications get serviced. All this work is being done due to PaaS service model.

This PaaS service keeps updating its service from time to time and keeps adding new features. Which is beneficial for software developers, web developers, and businesses. This includes software support services, management services, storage facilities, networking, deployment, testing, collaboration, hosting, and maintaining applications.

SaaS

The full form of SaaS is Software as a Service. It is third-party software that is provided by the vendor or service provider to the customer to access it through the internet.

This software is designed according to the user so that the user can use it from any place in the world. This type of software has to be purchased from the vendor. Through this software, HR management, accounting, invoicing, etc. work can be done.

Types of cloud computing based on Deployment

Based on deployment cloud computing is also divided into 4 types.

Public Cloud

Public Cloud is available to everyone and it is managed by the service provider only. These services are often free or charge very little. For example, Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Microsoft Azure, all of them are Public Cloud Computing.

Private Cloud

In a Private Cloud, services and networks are stored on a single private cloud (server). In this, the user uses this private cloud for himself. This cloud storage can be used by only one user and no other person can access this cloud storage. For example, Google Drive, and Dropbox are private cloud computing. All your data in these drives are secured with your own user id and password and you can access this cloud storage only with the help of your user id and password.

Community Cloud

Community Cloud is made for only one group of people. Apart from that group, no one else can access the data that is in the cloud. For example, in a government office, only its employees will be able to access all the data kept on its site. It also keeps user ID and password protected.

Hybrid Cloud

A hybrid cloud is a combination of both private cloud and public cloud. Also, you can use the cloud according to your need. That is, you keep the important application in a private cloud and you keep the rest of the application in the public cloud. Some things on a site are available only to the registered people and some things are available to the public. Such a cloud is called Hybrid Cloud.
